The 2010 major league baseball season has yet to begin but free agency trade talks are heating up. And the NY Mets are coming out of the winter baseball meetings aggressively, offering contracts to free-agents catcher Bengie Molina and left fielder Jason Bay.According to the latest baseball free agency update by the New York Daily News, NY Met general manager Omar Minaya has offered Jason Bay a four year - $65 million deal. Bay, who played for the Boston Red Sox in 2009, rejected a offer for $5 million less by the Red Sox last month. Bay hit .267 with 36 homers and 119 RBIs in 2009.
Meanwhile, the latest on the Mets - Bengie Molina free agency signing is that Molina will ultimately sign for two years at around $12 million. Molina, who is 35 years old, hit .265 with 20 homers for the San Francisco Giants in 2009.
"The meetings have been productive," Minaya insisted. "You would like to be able to say you either signed some free agents or you made some trades. I think across the board, all the GMs, if you talked to them, it's been more of a slower-paced, more of a patient meeting on both sides - from the free agents and from the teams.
Even thought the Mets have come out strong in free agency market, their cross town rival, and 2009 Major League Baseball World Champion Yankees, have already scored with two big name signing. The Yankees have resigned Andy Pettitt and snatched former Detroit Tiger All Star outfielder Curtis Granderson.
Now is the time to learn how to score baseball so you enjoy major league baseball to the fullest.
